Established in 2008, the Department of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) is committed to fostering academic excellence in fundamental sciences and humanities. With a strong focus on Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, Environmental Science, and Management, the department plays a crucial role in shaping students' foundational knowledge and analytical skills.
As the primary department handling first-year B.Tech courses, H&S ensures a seamless transition for students into their core engineering disciplines by providing a strong academic foundation. Additionally, it continues to support second, third, and fourth-year B.Tech students by offering advanced courses in Mathematics, English, and Management.
Beyond academics, the department actively contributes to the holistic development of students through co-curricular and extension activities, fostering critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills. With a team of highly qualified and dedicated faculty, the department plays a pivotal role in the institution’s growth, ensuring a well-rounded education that empowers students for academic success and professional excellence.
Head Profile
Smt Velagaleti Vani, M.Sc., is the Assistant Professor and Head of the Humanities and Science Department. With 20 years of teaching experience in Mathematics, she has played a pivotal role in the academic growth of Mina Institution, effectively handling various mathematics subjects in the engineering stream with consistently strong results.
Before joining academia, she served as a Coordinator at Dr. Reddy's Foundation (DRF) NGO from 2008 to 2014, where she successfully led the Community College Initiative Program (CCIP) in collaboration with the U.S. Consulate General. Under her leadership, seven economically disadvantaged students were selected for a one-year technical skill-building course at top universities in Boston, with support from U.S. Consulate Director Mrs. Rachel.
In 2016, she joined Mina Institution as Head of the H&S Department, making significant contributions to both academic administration and curriculum development. A strong administrator, she has effectively managed faculty and students, ensuring discipline and the smooth operation of the institution.
